New Beginnings, Together

Couples in traditional Bengali wedding attire standing in a row at a mass wedding

At our community wedding, couples from families with limited means began married life with dignity, surrounded by the whole village.

For many families, a daughter's wedding means taking on debt that can last for years. Our community marriage programme (gonobibaho) removes that burden.

The society arranged the ceremony, traditional wedding attire and gifts for each couple. Brides and grooms stood side by side in their finery while families, neighbours and volunteers celebrated with them.

Each couple left with the blessings of the community and the essentials to begin their new home.

This story is part of our Community Marriage programme.
