Clean Hands, Healthy Children

Village school, Sundarbans

A volunteer showing young children how to wash their hands at a basin

A hand-washing basin, a toothbrush and a patient volunteer: simple hygiene lessons that help children stay healthy.

Many childhood illnesses in our villages can be prevented by simple habits like washing hands before meals and brushing teeth every morning.

Our volunteers visited a village school and showed small groups of children how to wash their hands properly, step by step, at the basin. Outside, the children lined up with new toothbrushes and practised brushing together.

The children took the lessons, and their new toothbrushes, home to share with their families.
